The Journal

The Society publishes an annual Journal in April of articles on various aspects of the history of Cheltenham, which is free to members. Most articles are researched and written by Society members but we also welcome the submission of articles by non-members. Please contact the Editor editor@cheltlocalhistory.org.uk for advice on writing or submitting an article, and read the guidance notes covering copyright, style and layout.

Copies of Journals 1 to 34 (1983-2018) and the subject index for Journals 35 to 39 (2019-2023) are free to read and available for download with copyright restrictions on content.

Hard copies of all other editions are available for purchase – please click the button to submit an order.

Browsing and searching

The contents of current and previous editions can be browsed below or searched using ‘Find in page’ (Ctrl + f in Windows or +f for Mac) in your web browser. On request, the Editor can carry out a search of past Journals and their indexes to identify where topics have been covered. You may like to perform advanced searches yourself by downloading the publicly available Journal files to your computer and using Adobe Acrobat to search across all the files. Instructions for how to do this are available here. Please contact the Administrator with any queries on this.

Please refer to our Copyright section before reproducing any of the material on this website.
