VISIT: Tour and introductory talk at Gloucestershire Archives

Do you want to do some research – perhaps the history of your house or the area where you live – but don’t know where to start?
Would you like to visit the Heritage Hub which opened in 2019?
We have arranged a half-day visit for CLHS members on Wednesday 8th June.

* 10:15 am welcome and refreshments in the Dunrossil Centre
* 10:30 am Introduction to the Heritage Hub
* An illustrated talk about the treasures of Gloucestershire Archives (an introduction to the collections)
* Guided tour including the strong-rooms
* An explanation about the ARA Card (the reader’s ticket people will need to sign up to in order to use the service)
* Overview of using the online catalogue, finding & pre-ordering
* Overview of online collections and records e.g. Ancestry & Know Your Place

The course will finish at approximately 12:30pm

Cost: £10 per head
Transport: you will need to make your own way to Gloucestershire Archives, Clarence Row, Alvin St, Gloucester GL1 3DW. The 94 and 94X buses stop in London Road at the end of Alvin Street. Course participants may park on-site free of charge (usual charge £3)
